Hey All!

Today I have a super layered look for you. I love the ideas of layers in the winter (obviously) and I figured I would start out the layering season with a bang. I went for a simple black turtleneck, underneath a long cardigan with a trench on top. I then wore my cropped jeans with my favorite black booties. I then topped it off with the same fur clutch you saw in my last outfit post. I can't get enough of it! I have been using it almost every day. I love the fun spin it puts on any look, and the texture it adds.

Also, I got a new look for my blog! What do you guys think? I think it needed some updating, and I'm happy with the outcome. I'm just waiting on some new social media buttons to be installed. Let me know what you think!

October Beauty Favorites

Thursday, October 30, 2014

Hey All!

So today I have some October beauty favorites for you. I decided to strictly stick with beauty favorites this month because I usually do beauty and fashion, but I wanted to stick with one this month. I've been shopping consistently, but I feel like I haven't focused on solely beauty products for a while.

So before I ramble forever, here are my favorites!

I haven't purchased too many new beauty products this month, but I've sort of re-visited old favorites that I've used in the past.  First I've been obsessed with the Oribe Texturizing Spray ever since I chopped my hair. I straighten it, then use the spray near my roots for that messy, piece-y look.

Next I've been loving my Mie Kabuki Brush from NARS. I know I've talked about this in the past, but I'm still using it daily. It's perfect for powder applications, and the rounded tip is great for blush or a good contour.
I've also been loving the Make-Up Forever HD Foundation. This stuff is amazing! I love how it blurs pores to create that perfect smooth finish. It's medium coverage, which is fine with me since my face has been clear recently.
For body lotion, I've been loving the Jo Malone Wild Bluebell body creme. I love the fresh scent and it's perfect for moisturizing during the colder months because it dries quickly. Also for my skin, I've re-kindled my love with my Josie Maran Argan Oil. I bought this bottle months ago, but I've just recently started re-using it. My skin is already showing signs of dryness due to the colder weather, and this oil will definitely help with patchy areas.
My favorite powders this month are the Tarte Amazonian Clay Bronzer. I love this formula! It's so buttery and the bronzer looks great with my complexion. It's not too dark, and doesn't look muddy. I love contouring my face with it and the Mie Kabuki. My other favorite powder is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Moodlight. I love this beautiful shade to highlight. It's got a lavender touch to it, so it really lights up my face. I love dusting it above my cheekbones, and on my chin.

My last beauty favorite is the Kiehl's Lip Balm in mint. This balm is super moisturizing and it stays put for hours. I love it when the weather gets colder, since it's perfect for bringing my dry lips back to life.

Weddington Way Style Edit

Wednesday, October 29, 2014

Hey All!

So today I have a style edit for you all! Recently, Weddington Way contacted me about styling one of their bridesmaids dresses. They wanted me to put together a look that not only I loved, but that the bride loved as well. I wanted something totally classic and elegant for this look. I have always been completely mortified and get second hand embarrassment when I see a beautiful wedding, but the bridesmaids dresses and accessories are in shambles. I wanted a look where any sort of girl could look so pretty and put together in this ensemble.

I am obsessed with my outcome. I love how I paired muted colors with some bold jewelry and played with some texture as well. I sort of stayed with fashion pieces rather than beauty bits. I liked the idea of showing one side of a complete look, because you can play with the beauty look that best suits yourself.

Without further adieu...

Dress : Weddington Way (in Crystal Blue) | Shoes : Stuart Weitzman | Clutch : Zara | Earrings : Baublebar | Rings : Catbird NYC | Nail Polish : Essie

So I went with the Watter 9531 Dress in the color 'Crystal Blue'. I love the muted pastel shade and I think it can seriously look good on any body shape. I hate when bridesmaids dresses are not fitted right and don't complement the shape of the girl. I think this fit is good on anyone, and if the bridesmaids want a muted color in different styles of dress, that is okay too. I also chose to use some peonies as a bouquet. Obviously, the final option is up to the bride, but I just thought the shape and color of the flower was so classic and really complemented the color of the dress.

Next I chose a super simple heel. The bride is the star of the show, and her bridesmaids should definitely not be upstaging her. I chose this heel because it's really elegant and simple, but isn't a huge statement. The color also styles well with the dress. It's a bit pricey at $398, but the shoes are well worth it and can be worn with numerous other looks.

I chose statement earrings, since the upper half of the bridesmaid is very simple. These opal drops are perfect. The opacity of the opal looks great with the dress, but the geometric design really stands out against the classic silhouette of the look.
I would have the bridesmaids have very similar hair to the one on the model in the dress. I love the low side bun, with maybe some whispy pieces of hair untucked and flowing. It's soft and subtle but looks amazing with the bare shoulders.

Also, I would have the girls wear no necklace, since the earrings are a big enough statement, and the look of the bare shoulders and d├ęcolletage is perfect for a wedding.
I wanted to keep the rest of the jewelry simple in general. I love the earrings, but I wanted the bridal party to rock some simple gold bands around their fingers. I love the idea of gold midi-rings, and regular rings decked out on both hands. The hands would then be topped off with some classic nude pink polish. The gold rings atop nude pink fingernails is a match made in heaven.

For my last addition, I would give the look some texture by adding a fur clutch. The white clutch against a dusty blue dress is so understated and timeless. It's also at a great price point and can be styled with countless other looks.

You can create any beauty look with this edit. A simple champagne eye with look amazing with an added cat-eye liner and a coral lip!

Leather And Fur

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

Hey All!

Sorry I haven't been super present. I've been working on some different projects along with a re-design of my blog, so it's time-consuming. Hopefully my new blog look will be live within the next couple of days. I just got super tired of what I have now. Anyways, I shot this look earlier today. As you may be able to tell, I'm obsessed with the loafers. I've worn them non-stop. They're so chic! I paired them with some raw-hem jeans which are super in right now, and my trust moto jacket. Enjoy!

Oh, I also forgot to mention I totally chopped all my hair off! I love the way it came out. I think it makes me like more sophisticated and just more on trend than my raggedy long hair that was never even done, never-mind brushed. This hair is definitely more work, but I've been loving straightening it and then using some Oribe Texturizing Spray and I've been obsessed with it! It makes my hair so piecey and messy. Love!

How awesome is the background in these shots? We shot these right before the sunset, so the Boston skyline looks amazing in the background. I was loving the colors!

P.S I'm gonna have a style edit tomorrow on how to style a bridesmaid dress featuring a Weddington Way dress! Stay tuned!

Cozy Knits

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Hey All!

So today, as promised I have an outfit post for you. I love love love this look. It's so comfy and cozy, which is perfect for this time of year here in New England. It was a tad rainy and cold today here, so excuse the hair being blown all over my face in some shots. I could wear this look everyday. It's comfortable, but feels so put together at the same time. Enjoy!
